In the Construction Industry, mental wellbeing lacks the priority it needs. Construction Wellbeing is designed to raise mental health awareness by providing easy access to information, tools, and support for the Industry’s Social Values.
- The latest ONS data covering England and Wales shows that workers in construction are nearly four times more likely to take their own lives compared to other sectors.
- Construction has the second-highest rate of workplace injury (HSE: H&S at Work Stats 2022).
- Workload is the single largest cause of stress in the workforce. Lack of workforce, time pressures to complete jobs, lone working, and working long hours, including weekends, are all prevalent in the construction industry, creating strain on workers.
Construction Wellbeing Programme
The programme allows for the continuous evaluation of employee mental health and overall wellbeing through data analysis, direct employee engagement, and an assessment of potential risk factors.

Awareness
As well as building awareness, our virtual learning courses identify potential stress “risk factors” that the employee may be experiencing or that might be caused by their working environment. This can provide an early warning system for potential issues surrounding an employee’s mental wellbeing.
There are 3 Courses
- Stress Awareness
- Health and Wellbeing
- Mental Health Legislation

Prevention
A 24-hour confidential helpline provides a support mechanism for employees to discuss issues that cause them anxiety, stress, worry, and concern, regardless of the cause.

Support
Provision of early intervention Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) support for employees witnessing an on-site incident.
As part of the Aspen BCarm offering, we can also provide wider support to help policyholders develop their management system to better identify and report on wellbeing issues.
